Upright Bass Music Albums

These bass music albums are a must buy for both students of all ages and teachers as well.  The quality of the arrangements by veteran bass teachers like Stuart Sankey and Oscar Zimmerman etc.. reflect years of experience and hard work. You can't go wrong with these.  The range and music type and difficulty varies, so it is great to play parts and skip around the book if you like.  These books also reflect a lot of the standard repertoire for bass as well as some really great composers that have had their works adapted and arranged to be played on the bass.

AL-101

Solos for the Double Bass Player
arranged by Oscar Zimmerman. This is Steve's fave: "Every student and teacher should on this!"  Comes with piano part.

Bourree from 3rd Cello Suite (in G Major), JS Bach; Grave, Abaco; Prelude and Allegro from Sonata in G Major, Vivaldi; Sonata in C Minor, Handel; Sonatina, Beethoven; Minuet, Beethoven; Elegy (Bottesini), Andante from Concerto No. 2 (Bottesini), Area from Rigoletto (Verdi), Adagio from Concerto for Contrabass (Geissel), Vocalise (Rachmaninoff), Romance from Lt. Kije Suite (Prokofiev), Introduction and Tarentelle (Franchi), Seranade from Sonata for Bass Viol and Piano (Beveridge), Chaconne by Armand Russell.

All the music available to buy anywhere, this music by far, is the very best deal for the money.  You get so much: Original music and bass repertoire.  The music in this book varies in difficulty and with just a little curiosity will push players to try the harder stuff because the music is right there (by the flip of a page) and it is so fun to try, if even by segments.  A bass buffet!
