Here is the new "050" double bass rosin, which
is imported from The Netherlands. It is developed by a
professional double bass player there that has a good experienced
background. It comes in 3 grades of hardness/softness:
Hard, Soft and Super Sticky.
For decades, bass players would often try out rosins and then
decide on one particular brand (like Pop's or Carlsson), but often
throughou the year, with changing seasons, experienced players will
often switch to softer or harder depending what time of year
(season) and also, the type of music it might call for.
In the summers, a soft rosin can quickly gloss over or coat the
hair on the bow, which makes it hard to re-apply rosin if it gets
too much of a waxy build up. In the winter, when the air
is cold and dry, players need something a bit more sticky.
Some like to combine rosins and have two different brands near their
music stand. It's also very important that when applying a
fresh cake of rosin to newly re-haired bows, to start very thin the
first couple of days, or better yet: Start or break in your
new hair with a harder rosin first before you start slathering on
the soft. Think (Kolstein All Weather or this 050 Hard).
Because this rosin is so new AND because it is common for players to have both a hard and a soft rosin, we are
offering a nice discount for the 050 rosin with a package of two
cakes together, at $20 each.
Choose two rosins of any hardness (can even be the same):
