1/4 and 1/2 Size Upright Bass packages

We now offer fantastic 1/4 and 1/2 size upright double basses.  These basses are built in China by the same maker as our popular Thompson 3/4 bass.  (see Cheap Upright Basses)  They come with their own nice cover and bow.  Special offer on bass, bow, and cover: $1,150. plus shipping.

These basses are worth buying.  They will hold up over time and are specially made and reinforced for the typical rigors that any young student can submit.  The basses are plywood (laminate) tops, back and ribs and therefore resists the typical shrinking, or expanding that a regular, carved bass would undergo. 

The small 1/4 and 1/2 size basses also have good solid ebony fingerboards, endpins and nice adjustable bridges.  The covers are nicely padded and the bows are a higher grade brazilwood type with course, Mongolian horse hair.  We use D'Addario Prelude strings. Shipping is extra and depending on location, can cost between $80-150 by UPS ground.  We also ship by air cargo.  Oddly enough, sometimes our overnight air cargo can be much cheaper than the ground shipping.  (Please check with us for your rate.)  Email
